Danny
holds the rank of Rokudan in Judo and Yodan in Aikido and is a British Aikido
Board Instructor. He first started Judo at the age of 17, with the British Judo
Association.
In 1956 Danny became the British Schoolboys Senior Boxing Champion winning every bout by K.O. Danny started Judo in 1958 and joined the British Judo Association. Six years later in 1964 he gained 1st Dan black belt, beating all 8 opponents in succession by full ippon. 1964 saw Danny rise to become the top British Light Weight at the BJA national trials winning all contests by ippon. 1966 was the beginning of a 10-year period as a British International, achieving gold medals at many international matches. In1967 Danny commenced studies with J Hicks the then Western Area coach. At the age of 33 Danny became the 1974 European Silver Medallist, and in 1980 he began training under Geoff Gleason - Britain's first professional National Coach. 1990 was Danny's first Aikido grading, this inspired him to enter the 2002 World Master's Judo Championships, winning every contest by ippon. Danny received his BJA 6th Dan in 2003. In 2004 Danny was Promoted to 4th Dan Aikido and authorised to develop newaza (groundwork) for the Shin Gi Tai Association. Danny has had over 50 years experience in martial arts. This includes studying some of the internal Chinese arts such as Tai Chi, some of which principles he has incorporated in his own techniques.
